The 2023 Mob of Thirty release of the Royal Australian Mint’s (RAM) Australian Kangaroo Series is issued in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the series. Throughout the three decades, the series has featured renditions of the kangaroo penned by a variety of well-known Australian artists. This limited mintage anniversary coin is minted with the inaugural 1993 design by renowned sculptor Horst Hahne.

Obverse: The inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” and “2023” surround the effigy of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II located on the obverse. The dates “1952-2022” above are an homage to the seventy-year span of her history-making reign. Acclaimed British sculptor Jody Clark created this final definitive coinage portrait of the late monarch in 2015.

Reverse: A gorgeously rendered red kangaroo is depicted bounding to the right on the reverse. Inscribed “10 DOLLARS” above, with “1/10 OUNCE .9999 AU” and a dedication to the series’ “30TH ANNIVERSARY” below. The Mint mark “C,” representing the RAM’s home city of Canberra, and designer Horst Hahne’s “HH” monogram also appear.
