Description
Renowned for his wisdom and leadership, Odin, king of the Norse gods, is known by many names, one of which is ‘Father of the Slain’, as he welcomes fallen warriors to Valhalla, his celestial great hall. He has one eye, the other of which he sacrificed to gain knowledge of the world, and is associated with social drinking, oral poetry and runes – the vernacular writing system of Scandinavia prior to the conversion to Christianity.
This stunning bullion bar captures Odin’s sovereignty as he sits upon a throne with his iconic spear, Gungnir, in his hand. His ravens, Huginn and Muninn, sit on his shoulders, whilst his wolves, Geri and Freki, lie at his feet.
