This gold Kruggerand coin from 2018 is 0.9167 purity, consisting of 1/4 oz of gold in proof quality.

The reverse of the coin depicts the legendary “Springbok”, the national animal of South Africa. The obverse features the South African Republic’s first president from 1882 to 1902, Paul Kruger.

The coin has a privy mark on the reverse (above the Springbok’s back) with the letters XI · XI · XI – commemorating the Armistice of the 11th November 1918 which ended the First World War on the Western Front between the Allies and their opponent, Germany. The agreement came into force on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, symbolised by the Roman numeral XI (11) repeated three times.
